In 1941 Bath, Maine got a new central rail and bus station

Completed December 22, 1941, the new station takes place of the older one, built in 1889. In addition to the normal business and other facilities pertaining to the Maine Central Railroad, the new station houses the quarters of the Railway Express and is used by the Maine Bus Lines.

The building is a one-story colonia designed with pitched roof, dormers and a cupola. Exterior walls are of hollow tile, faced with water-struck brick. Passenger platforms are of modern type with hard-surfaced top and granite curbing.
In addition to a waiting room, the new station provides  a ticket office, women's and men's restrooms, baggage office and room and quarters for the Railway Express Agency, comprising a general office, an on-hand room and an express room.

Walls of the waiting room have a plywood dado with plaster running above it to the moulding and ceiling. The retiring room walls have asbestos tile board dado with plaster above.
