In 1967 Pan Am presented the jumbo jets that will enter service in 1970 on the New York-Paris line, with emphasis on the large scale of the planes, the new facilities and comfort. The jumbo jets could carry up to 450 passengers in domestic service, 360 on longer, transoceanic hops. Fully loaded the jumbo jet will weigh 320 tons. Four engines of 42,000 poundsÈ› thrust each, will give it a cruise speed of 600 miles an hour.
