The forgotten JM-1utility plane

The JM-1 utility plane was heavily used during WW2. This long-range, loand-based craft is an adaptation of the Army's B-26 Martin Marauder, stripped of its armament and used for towing sleeve targets. Flying from airfields in the Admiralty Islands, JM-1s accompanies fighting ships at sea and gives the men at the AA guns worthwile practice on targets towed at 20,000 feet high at speeds close to 350 miles an hour.

Ground-crew men go over one of the 2,000-hp. engines of the JM-1 in the course of the "60-hour" check that keeps these utility planes flying.
