Forgotten Hollywood - Tala Birell

 


Tala Birell was born as Natalie Bierle on september 10th, 1907 in Bucharest, Romania. She was the daughter of an oil magnate Karl Bierle, and a polish woman - Stefanie von Schaydakowska. After she graduates from highschool she moves to Germany to pursue an acting career, where for a time she doubles for Marlene Dietrich. For a short period of time she moves to Vienna and after that London, where she meets the great actor, and true cinema legend Conrad Veidt, the man that will open the Hollywood doors for her.

Her debut movie was "Nagana", her performance was praised by critics, one of them even said that she's a more younger and voluptuos Garbo. She will gain even more recognition in movies like "Air Hawks", "The Captain hates the sea" and many, many others. Her last role was in the 1955 TV series Flash Gordon as Queen of Cygini.
