The house of 1989 as it was seen in 1957 by Robert G. Beason

Inside the glass dome the living quarters may be mounted on a turntable permitting the house to revolve in phase with the sunt. MI's (Mechanix Illustrated - my annotation) design forsees an electronic tracker which keeps the structure facing directly into or away from the sun or at any other angle the owner desires.

A large and efficient air-conditioner maintains proper temperature and humidity inside the dome. Power for this unit, as well as for cooking and illumination, is provided by solar batteries which convert the sun's rays directly into electrical energy. at night and in foul weather artificial sunlight is provided by lamps, and power then comes from storage batteries.
