Since its opening in 1955, this iconic Beverly Hills structure was guest to great stars like Leonard Nimoy, Sylvester Stallone, Harrison Ford, William Shatner, Donna Mills, Elizabeth Taylor, Danny Thomas, Sammy Davis Jr, Goldie Hawn, Rhonda Fleming, Kim Novak, Marilyn Monroe, John Wayne and many, many others.
But its most important visitor, was no doubt, President J. F. K.
The hotel has the Aqua Star Pool, that at the opening was America's largest all-tiled pool. The Trader's Vic provided exotic Polynesian food and drink, in a delightful South Seas atmosphere. The Captain's Cabin offered cocktails, luncheons and dinner in an authentically nautical English pub, for men only until 2:30 p.m. After that, the ladies join the fun.
L'Escoffier - gourmet gathering spot for an evening of candlelight, serenading strings, continental cuisine and a magnificent view high atop the hotel.
Other facilities were: The International Ballroom accommodating 1800 for banquets. Star of the Roof cocktail and dancing bar. Monseigneur breakfast, buffet, luncheon with dinner fashion shows; and the Rendezvous Room - the main cocktail lounge.
All the 450 rooms were air-conditioned.
