In general there are three types of kitchen plans, the straight-in-line, the L shape and the U shape. Which of the three is best adaptable to any plan depends on the amount of floor space available, and on the location of doors and windows.

Here is a "shorty" corridor kitchen, condensed sufficiently in length to provide the space for a porch snack area. Yet the kitchen is roomy, for the space across the corridor is generous. Refrigerator is out of the picture at the lower left.
