A lovely 1965 brick and panels home

In the rear of the house, the vertical design of the board-and-batten siding is repeated by the rectangular glass areas. The wood texture is echoed by the patio's log-slice deck.

From the street, this contemporary house has that inviting look that comes from good design. Building materials complement each other as well as showing their function. Here, extending the brick facing around the corner - instead of confining it to the front - smooths the transition to the board-and-batten areas. This handsome blending of wood siding and brick is repeated around the front window and again at the covered entry.

Controlled traffic planning in this house gives each family area privacy. Adult activities in the living-dining area will not itnerfere with children's sleeping or TV-watching. The centralized kitchen is close to the front entry, dining and family rooms. Two large baths serve the three bedrooms, wich boast large closets. The Dimensions of the house: over-all, 48x49 feet, living area (less garage), 1.458 square feet.

The formality of this living-dining area of this lovely 1965 home, is achieved by gentle color and texture changes. Smooth white walls and soft-orange carpet are complemented by teak and neutral colored furniture. The adjoining areas function together so that the total area seems larger. Sliding glass doors also add to this effect of spaciousness.

Construction methods and building materials similar to those used on the exterior are echoed here in the family room. Here the atmosphere is less formal than in the living-dining area due to the use of bright colors in drapes and fabrics and larger wood areas contrasting with the column-like brickwork surrounding the fireplace.

From the vaulted, luminous ceiling and the rich, paneled cabinet doors down to the handsome, low-maintenance vinyl floor, this kitchen exemplifies quality. And don't be fooled by its compact size. There's  room enough for optimum efficiency - plenty of storage, adequate work space and nothing is more than a step away during meal preparation.

Although this master bedroom is not large, it seems to be. It easily contains a king-size bed, lounge chair and storage. Harmonious colors and plain surfaces make room appear larger.
