1939 - The Normandie Hotel in Belgium

The Normandie,  one of the largest and speediest of trans-Atlantic liners, may remain at her pier in the Hudson River for the duration of the war, but the French will not forget her if a Frenchwoman near Ostend, Belgium, has her way. This hotel proprietress had her establishment, which contains 37 bedrooms, a res- taurant and cafe, built in the form of a ship and named it after the famed luxury liner.
