A couple of 1949 home-made playsets for children

When rainy days keep lively youngsters penned indoors, they'll have a circus in the basement playroom with this rollicking merry-go-round. Propelled by the feet of the roders or pushed by a third person, the toy rotates in a five-foot circle. The colorful fish coaster shown below gives two riders a fast and merry trip downhill. The toy is steered by the feet of the driver, and the fish's fin provides a handhold for the rear rider.

No toy is more appealing to a boy thab a fire engine. This one has roller-skate wheels, a removable ladder and space for groceries when Mom send Billy on an errand. Small tots will rock by the hour in the novel seasaw boar pictured below, which is a safe and sturdy toy. The scottie chair at the right can be used as a play chair or put to practical use as a training seat.
