BH&G Five Star Home #2311

The rear or "downhill" side of house shows advantages of exposed basement. Windows and glass doors bring daylight and fresh air into this level. Terrace just outside activity room is just the spot for informal summer cookouts. Upper level is stained fir, with white trim to contrast with the receding white concrete block wall below. Four large view windows light living room.

Here's the sort of simplicity that reduces building costs, yet lets this house stand out in an unaffected and neighborly way. Carport roof, a projection of gable, is supported by steel pipes.

Though this home' has four bedrooms, plus other features made to order for a large, active family, it's not expensive or site-devouring. The "basement" here gives you advantages that a normal basement can't— it's fully exposed on one side for light, view, and ventilation. Space on this level is just as valuable as that above.
