Your new homes: a gable - and a garden

The low, gabled overhang of the garage in this neat, little Colonial home forms an "L", making possible a charming front garden patch beneath the small-paned living room window. To the back, the overhang of the same gable forms a cool porch, spacious enough, and well-sheltered, for summer living. In rainy weather, this porch acts as a covered passage from garage to living room.

The unusual "right angle" of dining room and kitchen makes cross ventilation possible in these two rooms as well as every other one in this five-room house. The interior bedroom hall is a space saver and insures privacy for all living areas.

This house was designed to fit a foundation already in existence on the owner's lot. The position of the garage, with a long wall at the front connected by a sweeping roof line with the house itself, gives this small house the look of a mansion.
