An in-depth look at the 1950 Kelvinator ER series of electric ranges

In 1950 Kelvinator launched the ER series of electric ranges as the cooking center of your kitchen.

All controls are located on the Top-o'-the-Range recessed, sloping panel of the range backguard, safe away from the children's reach. This simplified "Automatic Cook" control starts, times and stops oven, scotch kettle (deep well) or plugged-in electric appliances.

The scotch kettle could be converted into a fourth surface unit if needed. The "super fast rocket" surface unit could bring water to boiling point in 2 and a half minutes.

The large 16"x16"x19" oven had a Deluxe Electric Broiler that provided radiant heat.

The ER-509 had some extra features: fluorescent top light, twin appliance outlets, dual interval 6- or 60- minute timer, Warmer Drawer, tilt-up, 7-heat surface units, pressure cooker accessory.

The ER-507 only had an electric clock, oven timer, minute timer, range-top floodlight and appliance outlet.

While ER-503 only provided an automatic oven timer and lamp.

There were also the low end ER-502 and the compact ER-541 and ER-501.
