For the beach fashion of 1950, americans turn to one piece suits, big straw hats, togas and t-shirts.

In april 1950 at the Paris fashion salon, Captain Edward Molyneux broke a tradition and showcased a sportswear collection labeled " selected in America". He included beachware by american designers. The fashion show was almost a flop as the bath suits were designed for tall, long legged american models, and in Paris were worn by shorter french models.

Those new designs implemented the: pirate pants" design from the Riviera and straw hats from the luxurious exotic summer destinations like Virgin Islands, Jamaica and Hawaii.
