A simple, yet cosy L shaped house from Belleville, IL.

This lovely brick house from Belleville, IL. was the property of the J. A. McQuillans. Brick side walls are extended three feet for added character; panels at the front entry are translucent glass. 

The rear of this house (image above) opens quite dramatically. Here the family built a private patio behind shrubbery and high board fence. A wood ramp leads to the living room; an enlarged "well" daylights the basement.

Living and dining rooms are neatly separated by a low storage cabinet. Both rooms look out on the terrace; the high ceiling makes this area remarkably spacious.

An island of quiet, this living room is three feet lower than the rest of the house. Brick fireplace wall carries right outside and frames the terrace view.
