The first flight of the Lockheed T2V-1

The only version of the Lockheed T2V training jet for the U.S. Navy became operational in 15 December 1953 under the name T2V-1. It was developed from the Lockheed T-33, being powered by one Allison J33 engine.

In this airplane student pilots recieve instrument, formation and tactical instruction, advanced navigation, night flying and other training required for naval aircraft operation. The plane incorporates movable slats on wing leading edges, boundry layer control and other design innovations which make it the safest jet trainer ever produced.
