All the toys a boy can carry - 1954 Ranger Joe and Hecht Co. store Christmas competition

For a few frenzied minutes Baltimore was the scene of a contest which Santa Claus himself might have thought up. To push a cereal called Ranger Joe, an invitation was extended the city's children to compete in drawing a picture around a cutout from the cereal box. First-prize winner would be given all the toys he could carry in five minutes from the Hecht Co. branch store. Second and thrid prize winners would get four and three minutes respectively.

The three successful contestants assaulted the toy area in masterpieces of tacical planning. Frank Della Noce, 14, the first prize winner, outsmarted the regulation that he could have only "all you can carry" by loading a wagon twice and lugging it out. In 12 trips the three made off with a total of $1.042 in toys.
