Pan Am and the chocolate factory


Pan Am was the most beloved air company and on many levels it's synonymous with the history of aviation itself, so there's normal to see it making appeaprances in movies and TV shows. One of the most surprinsing cameos is in the 1971 film : " Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory".

The plane showing is a Boeing 707-321C N446PA "Clipper Climax".  The plane had its first flight in 1966, with the last one being on April 22, 1974. It was on its returning flight from Hong Kong to Los Angeles, with intermediate stops at Denpasar, Sydney, Nadi, and Honolulu; when while preparing for a runway 09 approach to Denpasar after a 4-hour 20-minute flight from Hong Kong,  it crashed into rough mountainous terrain. Sadly all 107 people on board perished.
