(X)F-90 the first "supersonic" Lockheed

Contracted in 1947, designed in 1948 and with the first flight (flown by Chief Test Pilot Tony LeVier). on 3 June 1949, the (X)F-90 was the first Lockheed plane to reach "supersonic" speed. I put that in quotes because it was reached in dive. Only 2 prototypes were made. As first was underpowered, the second one recieved afterburner, being the first american plane to have this, yet due to a poor choice in engines, the plane was still underpowered.

The first one was shipped to the NACA Laboratory in Cleveland, Ohio in 1953 for structural tests and was dismantled after. The second one was used for atomic blasts tests at  at Frenchman Flat in Nevada, surviving three blasts.

Here are a couple of press photos released after the first flight.
