The swimsuits inspired nightgowns of 1955

The abbreviated nightgown has been a widespread fashion for only a year but already designers are improvising it and have made their new styles look like dressmaker bathing suits. The outfits, more fitted than most nightgowns, have bare tops, short skirts or romper pants. Slated only for sleeping, these bathing-suit night clothes are made of sheer and fragile fabrics, which take to washing but not to salt water.
