The 1955 suspended furniture designed by Harry Jackson, famous designer and furniture retailer from California.

A day bed ($623) and chair ($19.93) and a spherical fireplace which turns to face any way desired all hang from the ceiling in Jackson's room. Besides extending the airy look, they are also easy to sweep under. Though the suspension idea is closely related to the porch glider, the wiring can be engineered to minimize sway. In Italy hanging furniture is already being used. In the U.S. a few builders are installing it in homes whose children face an airy future, but one almost bare of places to play hide-and-seek.
