New York International's taxiway bridge was the first in the world (1949)

Airplanes and automobiles are kept safely apart even though their paths intersect at New York International Airport by means of a two-level intersection, the first evcer built for aircraft. Two bridges span the roadway, each capable of supporting a 300,000-pound plane. The overpass permits the uninterrupted flow of vehicles into the airport while planes taxi to and from the loading ramps.
