The iconic Lichtenstein's Department Store in Corpus Christi, Texas

Established in 1874, its new home completed in 1941 (opened in december) is a striking example of modern store planning. Its 80,000 square feet of area is designed to afford many unique customer services and make every-day shopping a thrilling experience.

This view of Corpus Christi's main thoroughfare shows among others, the Jones Building, Medical arts Building, Lichtenstein's Department Store and the Nueces Hotel. Many smart shops line both sides of this busy artery.

Below is an image from the 1950s when the company expanded with new stores around the city. In 1972 it merged with Manhattan Industries Inc. becoming Frost Bros in 1977. In 1988 Frost Bros closed and the building became vacant. In 2013 the building was demolished and on the site the Cosmopolitan Apartments project was built.
