1945 concept for a flying boat port


Major stations, such as those to serve cities, require more extensive facilities, as depicted here. Yet outlay still need not be excessive. Seen are shore-connected "U" docks with winch-operated mooring lines, and beyond is small covered dock for seadrome patrol boats. 

"U" dad can be mowed for use in operating area when shore connection is not practicable. Similar dock could be constructed with arrangement to blow water out of "U" slip with compressed air to enable work on ship's hull.
