1946 - Stewardesses from the major American airline companies compete in "Smile Girl" contest

 

Airline Smile Girls: Finalists in the "Smile Girl" contest conducted by the International Optimists among airline hostesses are shown above. Colonial Airlines' Jeanne Marie Baumer (top row center) is the winner.
