Built last year for $15,000, this solar house was designed for an artist, but could be used by any one who wanted a completely private office in his home. The studio, with its louvered corner windows, has its own shower room, and is reached directly from the front hall, but is shut off from the remainder of the house, a convenience appreciated by many parents.
For casual entertaining, there is an "All-Purpose" room with a unique snack bar, opening into the kitchen. The closet wall between the bedrooms has a maximum of built-in furniture. Ceilings follow the slope of the roof upwards to the south wall, giving the sunny side of the house additional height. The storage room off the kitchen will delight the average householder. Later, a garage will be built, using this wall to form a new ell.
