Your new homes: wide open western

Typical of the easy, bracing life of the great Northwest, Washington and Oregon, is this style of architecture, developed out there, but becoming increasingly popular everywhere.

The wide open porch, with posts that go right up to the roof beams, creates an impressive facade for this small house for intimate living. The main entrance, logically enough, is at the side of the living room, making possible a small foyer which separates the bedroom from the living and service areas. This neat arrangement is not always possible in a small house.

This house was designed to utilize ready made windows, doors, kitchen installations and closets; in fact, nearly everything but the house itself, was prefabricated.
