M&M 1964 party cookies recipe

 1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 cup shortening

2 eggs

1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

2 1/4 cups flour

1 tsp. baking soda

1 tsp. salt

1 1/2 cups M&M

Cream sugars, shortening, eggs and vanilla throughly. Spoon flour into dry measuring cup. Level off and pour measured flour onto waxed paper. Add baking soda and salt to flour. stir to blend. Add blended dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Mix well. Stir in 1/2 cup M&M. Reserve remaining candies for decorating. Shape dough into 1-inch balls, slightly flatten them and place on ungreased baking sheet. Decorate tops of cookies with remaining M&M. Bake at 375F for 10-12 minutes.
