Year is 1967. A de Havilland lands on the streets of NY to prove that STOL planes can provide support in case of a major metropolitan disaster.

A de Havilland of Canada Twin Otter landed on a New York City street during a 1967 two-day emergency exercise to prove that STOL aircrafts could support a major metropolitan area in disaster. The 19-passenger plane, with a 65-foot wingspan, lands in about 625 feet. Shortly after the test, city officials announced a study aimed at turning a pier into a STOP airstrip to handle a short-haul air traffic.
